Secret Garden

Illustrations by Graham Rust in the book 'The Secret Garden' have been a well of inspiration for me, especially the backgrounds, landscapes, trees...
These two I copied have smiled at me most, though:

I am finding mouths and hands the most challenging, most definitely. Have to work on them. The poor lad looks like he needs a brace!Apart from that I am very happy with the painting.

Sheep

This is my 'signature' photograph. It's how everything started. It was shot in 2009 at the Baltic Sea Coast, near the 'Falshoeft' Lighthouse.

Cats

I'm exhibiting again on another market on 17th April, this time an Easter Bazaar of "Hands for Paws", a local organisation caring for cats and other four-legged friends, which need help or a new home.  That's why it was time to paint Alfie. Alfie was our mini tomcat from the school in Thailand where my husband and me did a voluntary service last year. Here he is:

You can find the Easter Bazaar and information about "Hands for Paws" on their website Haende fuer Pfoten

photos from the first exhibition: 'Schafe und Meer'

I am putting up 2 photos of the last exhibition today, because the next one follows on Sunday. :)

after the exhibition is before the exhibition ;o)

I sold one painting and had a lot of nice conversations. As of today I have the internet back on and can finally upload more pictures. And I'm painting again for the next exhibition - where that will be, I don't know yet!

Here is one of my "early pieces" (haha, I've only started five months ago), a Blue Hour picture from my time in Thailand last year. It is now in Canada, as I've given it to one of the other volunteers in Mae Sot as a leaving gift.

first exhibition

The first public exhibition of my paintings took place at an Arts & Crafts Market. I had a stall in the CCL Langenhagen on 10th April from 11am and 6pm. More than 50 marketers show their craft, a visit will be worth while.
My exhibition's motto is 'Schafe und Meer', which translates into 'sheep and sea' but sounds like 'sheep and more'. A little taster:

the eye of the beholder...

I shot this photo in 2011 on the ferry connecting 'Hallig Hooge', a tidal island in the North Sea, with mainland Germany.

Overture: 'sheep and other moods'

I started photographing more seriously in 2007 and paint since 2010. Sheep have been a fascinating motive for both media I've discovered.
Here are my first sheep in a watercolour adaption of a photography I shot in 2009 on the Baltic Sea coast in Germany.
